The island’s accessibility makes it ideal for those who carry sports gear by car, during their holidays and are eager to try new things. From adrenaline rushed paragliding to surfing, water-skiing, cycling and trekking, sports enthusiasts will never get bored.
Paragliding

A specialized-shaped stage is the spot for paragliding take-offs. This incredible flight begins at Exanthia village and finishes at Kathisma beach. There are no words to describe the feeling of freedom, excitement and adrenaline rush when flying down the green slope and many claim it is an addictive experience. Needless to say, there is an experienced guide by your side who will make sure you land safely and care-free at Kathisma beach.
Sailing
The large boatyard of Lefkada, with a capacity of 620 yachts, is undoubtedly a special attraction for those who love sailing. It is one of the most modern boatyards of the Mediterranean Sea. It provides amenities such as gasoline refilling, replenishment of raw materials as well as technical service and maintenance, for every possible need or damage.
Renting a sailing boat gives you access to stunning beaches which you may enjoy in absolute privacy. Especially on the west side of the island, the colors and the clarity of the sea water are beyond gorgeous. From the east side of the island, one may enjoy a sailing tour around other small islands such as Tilevoidi islands or Prigiponisia, Meganisi, Madouri, Skorpios, Skorpidi, Kastos and Kalamos.
In case you are not a boat/yacht owner, Lefkada offers many spots where one may rent one, for the day or for longer periods. Having a sailing license will give you the freedom to sail further from the shore , whereas individuals without a license are only allowed to sail at a small distance from the shore.
Sea Sports
If you love sea sports, there is a wide range of activities you can choose from. Two beaches of Lefkada in particular have the perfect weather conditions for surfing, attracting not only Greeks, but people from all over the world, who love this sport. The Vasiliki beach is famous for wind-surfing, thanks to the direction and intensity of the wind. Ai-Giannis beach is very close to the city and it is known for attracting kite-surfers. The sky is filled with colorful kites guided by men and women, all lovers of this sport. There are as well special sea sports center in Vasiliki and Nidri where beginners can be taught by specialists how to ride the waves for the first time.
For group activities, Nidri is the place where you can join your friends for a fun-filling “banana” ride or the more adventurous “fly fish” and tubes. For less speedy rides, try riding a canoe, a SUP or a family friendly pedal boat. Scuba diving is also an appealing option where you may explore the underwater world. However, if you love heights, thrills and adrenaline rushes, parasailing is perfect for you; an ideal way to admire Nidri and Skorpios from high above.
Cycling
Lefkada is known for being a bicycle friendly island since downtown is flat and it is an affordable, quick and easy way to explore the central market and the alleys! Both kids and adults will have a lot of fun if you decide to rent bicycles as a family and seize the opportunity to explore the city center. You will be able to have a proper look and feel of the city’s groove, to meet the local people, and to wander in the paved, serpentine alleys. Everything you will need is really close, so you can combine your ride with a walk in the shopping center to find souvenirs, to visit the museums and the churches that are in the area. Another great ride is to go swimming to Gyra beach or Ai-Giannis beach, just to see the four, beautiful, traditional windmills of Lefkada. A ride like this will bring you closer to the locals, you will see what their daily life is like and how much people of all ages use their bikes for all their activities.
Hiking - Trekking
For all those who love nature, we strongly suggest hiking! There are mapped paths all over the island which are ideal for hiking and trips. Taking one of the more than 20 trekking routes is a perfect way to immerse yourself into nature and witness the indigenous flora and fauna. One of the most beautiful paths is the one that ends up at the Monastery of Faneromeni. It is one of the most notable visits that you must make while staying in Lefkada. Another very popular one is the one that ends in the waterfalls of Nidri, where you can swim if the water level is substantial.
